My friends are perplexed. They’re trying to help me spread the word about The New Rules of Lifting for Abs, but there’s a problem: How do you explain it quickly, concisely, and cogently, so the listener instantly gets the concept?
It was easier with my past books.
Testosterone Advantage Plan: If you want to lose fat and look good, skip the cardio, and forget the low-fat diet. Lift weights, eat protein, cut carbs.
Home Workout Bible: The body you want, with the equipment you have.
New Rules of Lifting: Master six basic movement patterns to get bigger, stronger, and leaner.
New Rules of Lifting for Women: Lift like a man, look like a goddess. (I know it’s the subhead, but I’ve always liked that line.)
NROL for Abs? It defies…

You need a sense of humor to promote yourself. It especially comes in handy when you realize that you’re telling people to do the opposite of what you’re currently doing.
For three weeks, I’ve done everything I can to promote the new book, and I’ve done almost nothing else. I took the day off on Christmas, and I knocked off a little early on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. But that was it, until yesterday.
My normal schedule is simple and sustainable: I get up early in the morning, I knock off for an hour or two at midday to work out or run errands, and then I shut off the computer at 6 p.m.
My promote-a-new-book schedule is insane. I get up early, and spend the next 12 to 14 hours doing radio interviews, answering…

Multiple updates on the world-domination plan:
First is the four-minute trailer for NROL for Abs, which explains our basic approach to core training and why this book is different from the first two in the series. It’s the first time I’ve done one of these, and I’ll be curious to see the reaction.
Second: I’ve posted a sample chapter for the new book at the the NROL Facebook page. I’m embarrassed to admit how much this stretched my technical skills. And I still can’t figure out how to use Facebook’s version of HTML elsewhere on that page. It’s like the first time I tried to program a VCR, back when VCRs were new to us and English was new to the people who wrote the instructions. Ironically, the very first post I wrote for this version of…

I had way too much fun taping my segment for the 200th episode of The FitCast. I think I made sense, but I’m probably not the best judge of that. Also on the show are Dan John and Alan Aragon. I’m confident they made sense.
I was surprised and honored to be invited by Ryan Lee to join his all-star cast of contributors to his relaunched website. My first post is here.
While those are fun side projects, my main gig is the upcoming launch of The New Rules of Lifting for Abs, the third book in the NROL series and a completely fresh take on training for core strength and stability, body composition, athleticism, and overall conditioning.
The on-sale date is December 30. You can preorder now, of course; it won’t make the book arrive…

A trainer at my gym came up to me the other day, laughing. He’d been listening to The FitCast, and heard the hosts reminiscing about the time Lou Schuler broke the F-bomb barrier when their show was still in its infancy.
It’s not much of a distinction, I’ll admit, but I take ‘em where I can. More important, I exploit them. So I contacted Kevin Larrabee, the FitCast’s creator and host, and volunteered to be a surprise guest on Episode 150, which had been planned as a “best of” episode.
I’m not sure my contribution belongs among the “best of” anything, but it was a lot of fun to record. Click on through and give it a listen.
